While the Amazon listing gives normal American numerical sizes & I ordered the normal shoe size that I wear (which is 10 D(M) US), when I received the product the box was listed as Medium. The boots are a lot larger than any size 10 footwear I’ve ever tried to put on my feet. Evidently the numerical sizes in the Amazon description (8D(M) US, 10D(M) US, 12D(M) US, 14D(M) US) actually are the nebulous sizes Small, Medium, Large & Extra Large. I’m in the process of having custom inserts made by a local custom shoemaker so my feet don’t start killing me after a few hours of wear, let alone all day at a Ren Faire. I do like the appearance of the boots. I’ll modify my review after I receive my inserts & wear the boots to an all day event. In the mean time I suggest that Amazon changes the product description to more adequately inform any potential purchasers how these specific footwear are actually sized.

We bought the large size because my husband wears a size 11-12 in regular shoes.These boots fit my husband with enough room in the foot for a gel insert and athletic socks. His calf measures 17″ around and the boot opening was large enough to accommodate him. They look great and will enhance his Robin Hood costume nicely. The boots do need gel inserts, though, to make them comfortable enough for walking around all day at a Ren Faire. The boots go on easily as there is a short zipper on the inside of the boot near the ankle which does not show in the photograph on the site. We haven’t tested them yet hence the 4 stars instead of five.

I ordered them big because I wear 11.5 in men. They have lots of room in the toe. I’ll just wear two pairs of socks. They fit my calves perfectly. The soles are very heavy. I love them.

Used for Prince Charming costume. The medium would have been a little too small, but the Large is HUGE! The opening at the top is also HUGE – maybe my legs are too skinny. I’m 5’10” & 160 lbs, but wear a size 13 shoe (okay, Im 16 and still need to grow into my feet). Unless you are HUGE all over, don’t get the Larges!

These are attractive costume boots. I got them for a pirate costume and they looked great. I sadly got a size a little too big I’m a 9.5 and the Medium was definitely, big. Had I known I would have opted for the smaller size.

ok but a little large, not in the footprint but in how much material is loose around the foot. (not the shaft)

Boots fit alittle big I where a size 12 and got the 12-13 could have gone with 11-12. Otherwise the boots are great! Really like the way they look on.
