Hinges are a bit problematic. The wooden boxes containing purchased cigars are of better quality aside from finishing.I have combined this janky wood box with*  *  * DIY  to build my own for a fraction of the price.I have subsequently ordered actually-very-strong magnets: .. amazon math for the quantity discount on the boxes is stunning:one for 5.88 or two for 12.95hmmm

I was looking around for something like the cigar boxes we all used to keep are prized possessions in. Kinda like the opening scene in To Kill a Mockingbird…? Evidently those are collectibles to many and searching the auction sites are priced as collectibles usually are… ridiculously high. These are okay boxes. Maybe not quite as durable as the real cigar boxes I described. The construction is ok given the lightness of materials used. The boxes I received were finished pretty well… sanded smooth. Nitpick: why did they put a sticker in the middle of the outside of the lid? If you intend to paint or stain the box you may need to lightly re sand because of the residue left by sticker… pfffft

Very light weight. I didn’t stain the interior after seeing other reviews. Stained well. Some parts of the box aren’t completely glued down together. But you could hardly tell once it was stained

This is a lovely little box you can do countless projects with! Very thin material, so I recommend it for light projects and tiny screws/hardware. The hinges and clasp are decent – not cheap and not fancy. Alignment is perfect. It doesn’t wobble and it closes cleanly.Its got smooth surfaces, so it doesn’t need to be sanded if you aren’t covering every surface like I did. I haven’t tried my wood burner on it, but I imagine it will be a great surface for it.The only drawback is the rounded corners on the outside. It’s pretty, but capped feet are made for sharp corners.Overall, I’m purchasing more, and would recommend.

I ordered 12 of these boxes with the intent of monogramming the top with a wood burner to gift wedding presents to our bridal party. Due to the low price, I was not expecting the quality of a $30 cigar box. Most of the boxes were OK in quality, they definitely feel cheap. 3 out of the 12 had been cracked on the bottom during assembly, and then smeared with white glue to hold the cracks together. This probably would not have been noticeable, except that there is no blue fabric in the bottom as pictured. Also, the hardware is not gold/brass, but cheap, thin pieces of steel that are not even screwed in all the way (probably in fear of more cracking). The item pictured is almost certainly finished in some aspect (at least with a clear coat) because the boxes received were not nearly as shiny and polished. I expected unfinished, but the product picture should be that of an unfinished box. Depending on your intended use, you may want to find a higher quality box. nice for basic arts and crafts that the kids can do, but not recommended for something you want to last.

I ordered two of these to use to hold my modeling tools while I’m working so they stay together and I don’t need to search for them.They arrived ahead of schedule, bonus.They are almost perfect for what I wanted to use them for. My bad for not realizing some of my tools are a bit long and it causes a bit of a pile in the center of the box which prevents the lid from closing. But again it is my fault for trying to get to much stuff in the box at one time.I do feel they will keep my tools together so I don’t need to go in search of them and I have an extra box to make into a gift.As you can see one of the boxes has a bit of an issue with closing, the top seems to be warped and even if I use pressure it won’t close. The one front corner has some gaps in the joint and the lid is s little out of square with the box. I think as long as I use the box to hold my tools it will be okay. I don’t intend to carry the tools I around so the box should last a long time. I may practice my airbrushing skills on the box to give it some of my personality.

The box itself is okay, is a little undersized, but it still works for my use, a place to keep my gun on my nightstand (ruger security 9) it has ample room for the gun and a spare magazine. The gun sits proud of the bottom half but the box will close. The construction has somethings left to be desired, as they put the hinges on the front then took them off and did a poor job filling the screw holes. That being said, I was able to put in some wood filler, sand and paint the box and you would be hard pressed to know that the manufacturer screwed up. All in all, this box is worth the price you pay for it.

Bought this as a gift box for my veteran brother’s medals, which he never got after he left the Army. Plain softwood box. I sanded it smooth, stained it, and added about 6 coats of poly spar varnish to it, then built interior inserts with black fabric to support the medals and finish the box. Took the stain well, and has a attractive shine now from the many coats of varnish. impressive value for $4…I couldn’t even buy the hinges and clasps that cheap if I wanted to make a box like this myself. This is a value proposition. You get a great basic, unfinished box for the money. The rest is up to you. Other reviewers are complaining that they aren’t getting a furniture grade hardwood box for less than a trip to Burger King…but let’s be real…this is a great value and my finished box turned out looking like something I paid real money for.
